Her birth remains one of the darkest mysteries, and likely always will...
There are two rumors that spread among the inhabitants of Gensokyo, both of them are plausible and fearful.

The first rumor tells that Patchouli Knowledge, in one of her moments of spontaneous curiosity, attempted to replicate herself using a forbidden magic hidden in the depths of her library inside the Scarlet Devil Mansion. A ritual that should never have been performed, written in a nameless tome that appeared among others on the shelves without anyone ever having placed it there. The ritual went wrong. What emerged was not a faithful copy, but something distorted and filled with something else entirely.

The second rumor on the other hand, it claims that Wicked Law's Magician is Patchouli herself. That a parasite of unknown origin, born perhaps in the voids, took root in her soul and slowly consumed her from within, rewriting her. Cited as evidence is her voice; deep and masculine entirely incompatible with the body that produces it. As if someone else were speaking through her.

Appearance

Wicked Law's Magician is, by her very nature, faceless. Her skin is completely black devoid of any features whatsoever. No eyes, no nose, no mouth. Yet somehow she can still see, hear and speak. She speaks directly in the minds of those nearby, through telepathy, carried by that deep and distorted voice.

When she wants to intimidate, unlike Wicked Law's Witch, she creates her own face. It can be a single eye, wide open in the center of the black void, fixed on her target without blinking. Or simply a smiling mouth without anything else. She can also replicate anyone's face without difficulty.

Her clothing echoes Patchouli's but everything is black, as though color itself refused to cling to her.

The Six Spheres

Six spheres orbit around Wicked Law's Magician, each one has its own color and soul. The more souls she absorbs in battle, the more intense the spheres glow. Each one has its own name too:

Power and Combat

The more souls she absorbs in battle, the stronger she becomes. Every protagonist of Gensokyo who falls before her is not a victory, but one more brick of her "fortress" she is building around herself. Her ultimate goal is total dominion over Gensokyo, not to govern it, but to own it. Making it not a place inhabited by people with a will of their own.

In combat, she does not act on instinct like Vesta. She studies like a normal curious magician would do. She observes the enemy with patience, analyzes the patterns in their danmaku, searches for cracks in their technique and in their psychology. Only when she has a sufficiently complete picture, she strikes and she does so with a precision that rarely leaves room for a counterattack. Her danmaku is dense, geometric and almost architectural. Her patterns are built to leave no way out.

But if the enemy proves genuinely dangerous, something in her changes. The battle ceases to be a battle, it becomes a death sentence. The Tyranny sphere flares red. At that point Wicked Law's Magician is no longer trying to win, but is trying to erase. The enemy stops being an opponent and becomes simply something that will shortly cease to exist. She abandons the unwritten rules of Gensokyo's duels and moves to direct means... killing them mercilessly.

Character

Wicked Law's Magician possesses a god complex, she believes her superiority to be an objective fact of the universe. Her being wrong is for her impossible. If something doesn't work out as expected, the world is always at fault, not her. She never takes the blame for her failings. Her opinions are not opinions, they are just facts and orders.

She looks down on everyone with a distance like an entomologist observing an insect. But there are, however, two exceptions.
