Mathrus

Mathrus is one of the most infamous characters in the cheap MUGEN community. It was considered one of the strongest cheap characters in the game despite no confirmation of its existence aside from an alleged screenshot. Mathrus was meant to be a MAN (Metropolitan Area Network) "Dragon-Tier", meaning it was supposed to operate on a city-wide scale.

So... does Mathrus exist?

The answer is: "Possibly" but definitely not as a "dragon-tier" since this has never been backed up with any proof. A "supernull" version was promised to Buraido, for a "Style Contest", which were held by Ced in the past. However this never happened so there is no proof that the "supernull" version exists either. Since there is at least a screenshot however, this is more plausible than the actual "dragon-tier" Mathrus existing. Ced probably used ydccdy's (famous for creating characters like dsrugal) statedef overflow code to create his supernulls, which likely is the same case with Mathrus.

The alleged history

Ced Soum was part of an alleged group of Russian MUGEN content creators (Including Urak, who is said to be the original creator of Mathrus) who were totally dedicated to creating "dragon-tier" characters and anti-malware characters. According to Ced's words, there were three more "dragon-tier" characters created by this group, known as Doxa, Wendel and Louvan.

The alleged creator of Mathrus, Urak, was in the same Skype group that Ced and some of the other authors at the time were in. From there, Mathrus was mentioned for the first time and Ced likely obtained a copy of the "alleged" original version somewhere around that same time, and decided to test it on a computer at a college he was studying at. The test allegedly caused a blackout that knocked out the power grids in his town, leaving the entire town without electricity for 24 hours. Later on, the infamous image was posted to his now defunct DeviantArt account.

About the alleged story...

Despite Mathrus' alleged story, it can also be understood that this is most likely all fake since, there has been no evidence or news records regarding the power blackout, or a report of the malware created by Urak. Also, speaking of Urak, he most likely never existed and was invented by Ced since there is not even an account or profile of him on the internet.

And here we come to the fact: How did "Urak" know how to do DBOF in detail without contacting anyone in the MUGEN community long ago? There is also to keep in mind that if although Urak had contact with Ced, Ced did not know how to make shellcodes at the time.
